Died for You!!!
It takes a certain kind of person to join a Service industry that
could cost you everything. There is something that is just instilled inside of
you that you can’t walk away from. Some guys do it to be macho and so forth and
some women do it to prove they are just as good as a man. But no matter what
the reason, they do because there is a certain kind of unselfish nature inside
of them. They fear just like us, they have nightmares just like us and they
want to live forever just like us. But these service people have a God given
quality deep inside them that just tells them to run TOWARD the gunfire and not
away, TOWARD the fire and TOWARD the crime and TOWARD the car wreck or sinking
boat and fallen building.
Truth be told, I read in a book recently that describe them
as borderline Sociopaths, and just a little bit nutty. But I don’t think it’s the thrill junkie
inside that drives them, it’s the thrill junkie inside that pushes them. What
drives them is the unselfish nature to change the wrong in the world, to be
there when no one else is, to be that hand reaching out when all hope is lost. What
possible selfish joy could someone get from swimming into frigid cold water to
save a sinking ship, jumping from a perfectly good airplane in the dead of
night while being shot at, or hiking for miles in the pitch black night to take
out local terrorist on a top secret mission that no one will ever hear about? It
gives me chills just thinking about it.
I mean sports stars gets their
thrills from the game cause they are making good money and a millions are
watching, they get the fame, the glory, money, and the recognition. Those guys
have the selfish, prideful bone inside them that enjoy the spectator sport.
Navy SEALS, Army Rangers, Paratroopers, cops, first responders; they are not
being watched or glorified on a weekly bases. They live meager lives and are
hardly ever known to anyone for their accomplishments.
Memorial Day is a special day because unlike Veterans Day it
celebrates the lives of those who sacrificed everything for you and me. Personally
I don’t watch sports, I don’t follow teams, and I frankly don’t give a flip
about anything regarding them. It has never interested me to fall to my knees
and bow to those who take for the granted what blessings they have. I prefer
the meager, humble and thankful heroes that make us great as a Country and as a
world. The battle between good and evil will always be waging and I’m so
thankful for the ones that are willing to do what they do. Memorial Day is also
a sad day, not just for those who passed but for those who carry on missing the
ones who gave all. It’s about the mothers, daughters, wives, fathers, brothers
and sons who will forever be grateful and be forever torn by their loss. The
wife who has to raise her children alone and the children who will never fully
know there parent.
George Patton said
““It is foolish
and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather, we should thank God that such men
lived.”
Truer words have never been spoken, we should
be eternally grateful that God would bestow upon us these amazing men who
fought and died for us. For without them our freedom would be in peril.
Audie Murphy (the most decorated veteran of all
time) and possible the most amazing story of a hero I can think of said this:
“The real heroes of the war are those who never came home.”
So thank God for the heroes of the world and the ones who
chose to give it all for us! Death has been downgraded by Hollywood and Video
games and doesn’t seem real to us but those who are forever in heaven and whose
family members will always mourn we salute you from our hearts!!!!
"so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it." Isaiah 55:11
