B.Y.O.G.

We don't typically think of ourselves as guilty. Yes we make look down on our selves or get disappointed but, not guilty. Especially in this Christian life, and church is about the last place we would feel it. We bring our pride and boast in our so called "good deeds." We bring our volunteer work and our charities and our internal bragging of being better than the others around us. But we never bring our guilt with us. It's almost like we (or I) leave in a box somewhere, packed away in a place that I don't want to see it popping it's ugly little head out. Guilt is dirty, it's shameful and rotten. It brings us down to a place we don't often like to be. Guilt is something we can't stand to admit or bear the burden of because it just makes us feel, I don't know, like crap!  But the truth is that we are all guilty. All of us just waiting for our time and the judgement that awaits us. But wait!!!! There is hope...       Our church is putting on

What I miss most

It's been almost a year since we embarked on our return journey back to Texas. It's been tough and long and we are still working hard to plant roots. Today, as we played outside and I was forced to pick up all my loose screws (yes, I have a few loose ones) on my garage floor it brought me back to a time not so long ago in a place far far away!      Man, what a year it has been. Its hard deep inside to rearrange your life, when we first moved away we were still kids and had no plan or idea how we were going to make it. We spend years growing our family and forging new paths in our lives. We made friends that we dearly miss and established a life in a not so familiar land. It was where we had a lot of firsts. Like our first church family in Maryland and our first bible study family in Virginia. I stopped my first and only robbery to date. It is where we had our first dog and our first gym and our first home, which is where we tiled our first bathroom and I replaced my firs

The Secret to a Success Non-Velveeta

Ingredients: 2 cups whole milk, room temp 3.5 tablespoons of butter 2. Tablespoons of flour ¼ yellow onion 16-20 Oz finely shredded cheese – queso , or Monterey jack or a mix in a big bowl 2 cans of Rotel drained 1 can black beans, rinsed, drained, smashed with a fork 6 Oz cream cheese, room temp and “diced” into small pieces Sprinkle of garlic Alright, so this method of Queso dip will take some time and patience, but it is really good when you get it. Start off by melting the butter in a double boiler or a regular pan at low-MED heat. Don’t let it sizzle. Add the onion and let it cook for a couple minutes. When the onions are ready (clear) add the flour and let it mix well. After about a minute slowly start to stir in the milk at a slow pace whisking the entire time. Let is thicken a little and get warm, then add the garlic and cream cheese until it melts together. Here is the key: slowly start adding the finely shredded cheese a small handful at a

Ill have Seconds on the Hatred please!!

So there is one thing that has and always will bother me. Hypocrites! They are all over the place and I find myself doing it sometimes, but rarely. I came across an article the other day about the new Son of God movie coming out and so I read it and obviously the writer not only bashed the movie but Christianity as well. As I read through the comments, which were too many, almost 1700+, I found a multitude of sides on the issue. For God – against God – you name it. But what aggravated me the most was the lack of tolerance. But what is funny it how the intolerant Atheists’ were blaming Christians for being intolerant, when they are the ones who are bashing Jesus and “religion” to begin with. But I guess there answer was to, instead of ignoring something they don’t even believe, degrade Jesus, the Bible, and Christians by calling US INTOLERANT! Give me a break…                      My theory is this, you don’t want to believe, then go about your life and let it be. But why cons

The blog is strong with this one!

As a blogger, I don't tend to read many other people's Blogs, though I should, I just don't. You see as a writer you use words and phrases to speak to the world and find yourself hoping the whole world reads it and seems somehow interested. But unfortunately most people are not. Especially mine because it's just on Facebook and most of my topics are off the deep end and people probably see me as that crazy lunatic that expresses himself too much. Well I'm here to tell you something, that all may be true, but I am dead gum proud of it!  I like to use literature and word like a musician uses song, maybe I should take note and leave it to about a 4 minute page with some catchy tunes in the background. Maybe I could do like one of those open mic poetry or blues nights themed blog. You know the one, some guy strumming Bass in the back ground with some graffiti painted walls and my top hat with a scarf. But really I just do it to express myself verbally because I have a d

How can God exist, with all this evil in the world?

Image
Maybe he just doesn’t care! Maybe he’s just an egotistical mass murderer that wants us all to bow down at his feet and worship him! Maybe he is evil himself and we are just pawns in some sadistic game! Yeah! Yeah, that’s it! But wait there is more; maybe he loves us so much that although we are all evil, he still sent his only begotten son, a spotless lamb to die for us!  But wait a second, that doesn’t sound like the God I described above. But… how can he be both? Or is it….. Is it maybe he can’t be both?

How Angels Eat French Toast

Image
Angel food cake French Toast- First, I must admit this was not my original idea, but I tried it and loved it! Six large eggs, beaten well 3/4 cup half and half 2 tablespoons brown sugar Pinch of salt 1 tablespoon cinnamon "Sauce" 4 tables spoons butter 4 tablespoons cream cheese 1/2 cup table syrup After beating the eggs, add the ingredients, then mix, but mix well. Poor in a small pan, like a square brownie dish. Get yourself an angel food cake, or bake your own. If you bake your own you should follow the directions, but try to bake it loaf style. Cut the cake into 1" pieces Let the cake soak in the egg mixture for about a minute a side, then cook on medium heat in melted butter in the skillet.. Melt the butter, cream cheese and syrup in the microwave about 15-20 seconds at a time stirring in between. " so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve

When the Devil joined Facebook!

If you were to bring up technology today in a coffee house discussion, people would probably get excited and go on and on about shows, blogs, FB media posts etc. But one subject that I doubt would come up, or a topic that would not be much discussed might be the moral decline of society over the last 60 years. The increase in pornography addiction, adultery, divorce and decrease in personal relationships and the overall state of our society as a whole can be directly related to this. Society has always had its problems and this is not a new thing. In fact societies since the beginning of time have suffered these issues. But what is the real impact on society due to the increase in technology? Of course there are amazing things that we get from this explosion of plastic and touch screens, like advancements in emergency response and instant communication. We are sharing experiences from across the world in an instant, watching things unfold from the other side of the world an

Atheism, the new child's play.

My kids like to come up with excuses all the time for why they do things. They like to try to convince me that the reason they had for doing something wrong was justified. At about that moment is when I have to tell them no and continue on to explain to them why their actions were wrong. Now there is an imperative reason behind this. You see, as a Christian and follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, I have an absolute moral standard to live by. Wrong is wrong and right is right per God’s moral absolutes. My kids don’t always like that, and tend to rebel from time to time, which usually ends up with me punishing them for whatever said mishap they have committed. There are reasons for this interaction, I teach my children that it is out of love that we do not do things against others. I also teach them it is because of love that we do do things for others as well. These principles are not only written into my heart by my creator and designer (the almighty God) but they are lessons lear

You Can't Press This!

I like to fancy myself as a connoisseur, though I have only been a part of the club for about two weeks.

The New Label - you're probably going to hate me.

I like to consider myself to be Anti -“pro”      Here is what I mean by that, everyone is pro something. But what I don’t seem to be able to grasp is how our last few generations, beginning in the sixties, are so PRO everything but “Pro- commonsense ”. How can someone consider themselves to be Pro-choice, yet have the audacity to PRO-test against war? They are Pro-choice, but yet they PRO-test against the right to PRO-tect yourself with the second amendment. I mean they can be just fine taking life of an innocent child, but yet they don’t want you to arm yourself, protect your family and stand up against tyranny and evil abroad (oh yeah, or eat meat). The PRO-choice moment has killed almost ten times the innocent children than the Nazi moment!      Look, I've been there, I don’t want our soldiers dying any more than anyone else, but the world needs someone to stand up against oppression and fight for people’s civil liberties. Is it America’s place to sacrifice our m

What'd you call me?!?!

Are Christians truly hypocrites?          Look, I don’t claim to know the whole bible, and I certainly don’t claim to be perfect. But here is what I do know, God is real and Christ was his son. Now ask me to explain the Holy Trinity….. Uh.... Exactly.      A lot of people tend to stereotype Christians and the Church. They know what we stand for so they automatically assume we judge people and condemn them. Stereotypes are bad news because they are based either one experience or the minority of one group. People know I’m an avid follower of Jesus Christ and yet when they fail to get to know me and they make off color comments about who I am or what I believe. Shamefully, they just assume and don’t know the truth. Do I believe in right and wrong? Do I express myself openly? Do I try to lead a life reflective of my beliefs? All of the above are.... True.      But do you really know what the difference is between a Christian and non-Christian is? Well, let me tell you: “I beli

A lot of us, if not most of us, heck maybe even all of us at some time have chosen to do something or start something, quit something on a predetermined day in the future. Being new years we probably all have been waiting and plotting and telling ourselves we are going to do such said thing starting January 1st. I do it, every year! But what’s terrible is a lot of times I find myself doing it every year. We start off with the best intentions and end the year repeating the same mistakes we did before. Or we try to binge the last few days on what it was that we decided to give up (irony); In turn hindering our chance of success over the one thing that has had such a grasp on us to begin with.      Now I don’t have the cure for what ails you and I can’t give you the answer to how to be successful, but I can encourage you to keep it up. But what seems to be odd about these “demons” in our everyday life is that most times we know that they are bad and unhealthy but choo
