A fatherless world???

The world as we know it under attack. Our society is being convinced and being pushed towards and  into family warfare. Fathers are portrayed in sitcoms and movies as losers. Commercials and magazines try to convince men that they need to constantly chase the the American dream and be rich and foolish. That a man's man is a guy who drinks beer and watches football on Sunday instead of going to church and and leading his family. Marriage is being attacked as well and woman are being decieved into thinking they don't need a man to have kids and two mommies can be just as good if not better or even as far as just not being a mommy at all. The face of a traditional family is no longer, Al Bundy and Homer Simpson are the "new" dad. But the science and the statistics will not lie. Crime, abortion, teen pregnancy, suicide, and gangs can be traced back to absentee fathers or men who choose to be less than willing to be good fathers and put their familes first. It's a real tragedy that more and more men are being lead down this path. Too busy chasing after there ego or there self satisfying lifestyle than investing into there children or there wives for that matter.

It is sickening to think about the status of our country  now a days. Ward Cleaver is a distant memory, chalked up as nothing more than male shovanism. A man can't be a man anymore without being attacked or degraded by his peers. He is no longer a sense of pride in this country.....the father is now just the butt of a bad joke!

Why do we stand by and just let this happen? Why don't Men have pride any more and seek to be heroes to this world like our not so distant past?

But every now and then ou get to see a glimpse of hope. I watched "Man of Steel" this week and after I started to think about it, it made me proud to see for once Hollywood portray not just one good father but two! It showed how a confused young man with extraordinary abilities can be lead by men who stand strong in there principles and convictions. It showed how Superman of all people chose to do good and be courageous and strong because he was taught by the leadership of his fathers!

We too can do just that, we can be firm in our faith and ourselves and not let this world conform us into its mold. We can be just and righteous men, lead our families as we were lead by Jesus! We can be fathers to our children and husbands to our wives! I don't want to be defined or describe as a business man, I don't want to be a Steve Jobs or a Hall of fame sports star. I want to be known as a great father, a leader, and a hero to my children. I want be the example they look for in a man! I want to a shoulder to cry on and a healing hand to a broken heart. I want my discipline to reflect love, meaning and most of all grace. I want my thoughts and actions to reflect the same love that my two fathers had for me!

Be cautious fathers, the enemy is out there and he is strong. He is dismantling our families and breaking our marriages. He is convincing us that we are nothing, and we will always fail! Don't take the bait, your are more than that. Look to your God in this day and age to lead you, so you can lead your children. Let's become heroes to our children again!

Happy Father's Day....
