The Secret to a Successful Day After!

So driving home today I was listening to the radio and the guy said something that really made sense to me. He said Government is only one Aspect of our lives, so no matter what happens WE still choose the type of lives we want to live; we still choose the type of people we want to be.
So to quote William Wallace:

There's a difference between us. You think the people of this country exist to provide you with position. I think your position exists to provide those people with freedom.

And the everlasting:

“Aye, fight and you may die. Run, and you'll live... at least a while. And dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willing' to trade ALL the days, from this day to that, for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take... OUR FREEDOM!”

Yes I know it is extreme to think along these lines in a way, but in the context of the way things are going it makes sense to think in this manner. Do I agree with the way this country is going? Most certainly not. Does it matter what I think? Yes, but I can’t change the course. Only God appoints leaders, and I know it sounds crazy to claim that God favors our current president. But we must understand that not everything is meant to be understood, and God’s ways are not our ways and we are to trust him and praise him in all things. Personally I don’t think God “favors” him but he is some way serving God’s purpose whatever that purpose may be. But, getting back to the original meaning of this article, the Government plays only but a small part in our lives. A BIG small part, but nevertheless still a small part indeed. Whatever rights and money and freedoms they take away we can’t allow it to change our positions in life, we can’t allow it to strip us of our hope, our faith. Is it about to get worse? Maybe, and probably, do we still as American’s retain more unalienable rights than most of the world? Do we still take for granted the things we have? Do we still find ourselves being selfish and wanting more? YES!!!

Look at our country's values and our daily lives and remind yourself of all the things that we have. The Government can strip us of our money, our rights, and our happiness (worst case scenario) but as a follow of Christ we can rejoice in knowing that it’s only temporary and they can never strip us of the Love we have from our Father in heaven. Now if I had to guess I would say that part of God’s plan most certainly has to do with the fact that both Christian and non-Christians alike have completely stripped God and our core Christian values away from our homes and out of our country. We ask why God would want us to suffer. Why would he want us to fail? How about asking yourself what our country has done lately to deserve God’s favor? What have Christians done to stand up for their savior? We all hide from people because we are scared they find out we are Christians.

God let the Jews wander around for 40 years after saving them from slavery because they denied him, and in Jeremiah the exile was 80 years. We have turned our back on God in this country and yet we expect him to deliver us. We sit in church and Bible studies and learn about the constant idol worship in the bible and how God was displeased and reacted accordingly yet we are so arrogant to believe it won't happen to us. But yet we trade our principles and values for what? Reality TV and good paying jobs? We worship football on Sunday instead of Christ!!!

So we can make all the foolish claims we want and blame whomever you like, but before you do take that giant PLANK out of your eye. We, even as Christians, deserve whatever God has in store for us. We are not exempt from fulfilling God’s plan because we read about the other people who did or didn’t do it thousands of years ago. God chose to put his holy word and record on paper for the whole world to see so we could learn from it and not so we could chalk it up as history. A country founded by God, so we could worship him freely and base all our values on his teachings is allowing us to crumble because we are too busy worshiping ourselves. At least that’s my take on it.

The Secret to a Successful Day After is being able to stop blaming everyone else so we can take a long, hard look in the mirror!!!

"so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it." Isaiah 55:11
